Hi, and welcome back from Spring Break and a short hiatus for our Luther Burbank Park playground mosaic project. The work that we completed during the workshops with our Mercer Island students in Grades 3-5 and also Grades 6-8 is looking quite wonderful. We are thrilled with our progress and the amazing workmanship and creative spirit of our students. I think we all looked forward to this creative and collaborative time together.

On our last workshops, José and I also shared a take home project with our students. They made mosaic sun catchers using recycled glass, used plastic lids and clear glue.

We are so appreciative of the generosity of our students and volunteers who came each week to contribute to our public mosaic for the Luther Burbank Park Playground. I think we’ve built more than beautiful mosaics.

In the next few weeks, José and I and volunteers will be getting together to finish, finesse and fine-tune our mosaic work and figure out the details for installing the mosaics at the park. Keep posted 🙂
